CCSS enrollment

Residency applicants are generally required to enroll in the CCSS. Contributions depend on your residency category and declared income. Confirm current requirements with the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería and the CCSS.

Private insurance

Some residents add private insurance. Insurance in Costa Rica is supervised by SUGESE (Superintendencia General de Seguros); check that an insurer is authorized.

Getting settled
